HIV-1 ANTIVIRAL RESISTANCE TESTING, PROTEASE AND REVERSE-TRANSCRIPTASE, PLASMA

Test Code: AVRT
Description: Human Immunodeficiency Virus HIV-1 Sequencing, HIV Resistance Testing, GART (Genotype, Antiviral Resistance Test). The rate of HIV replication and the infidelity of its reverse transcriptase (RT) enzyme establish the basis for the immense genetic variability of the virus. Mutations at every position along the HIV genome typically develop daily in an untreated patient. Both the reverse transcriptase as well as the protease genes are examined.

Indications: Monitor drug resistance
