About Clinical Hematology
Stanford’s Clinical Hematology Laboratory performs a wide variety of basic and advanced hematology testing on whole blood, serum, urine, cerebrospinal fluids and other body fluids.

The laboratory provides routine assays, including:
Routine Hematology Testing
Hemtology performs a suite of tests including complete blood count, blood differential, smear morphology and bone marrow staining. These tests aid in diagnosing anemia, certain cancers of the blood, inflammatory diseases, certain bleeding and clotting disorders. They can also be used to monitor blood loss and infection.
Routine Coagulation Testing (PT and PTT)
Our routine coagulation testing evaluates bleeding and clotting disorders and allows clinicians to monitor anticoagulation (anti-clotting) therapies.
Urinalysis, Body Fluid Analysis and Cell Counts
We offer a range of testing including urinalysis, pregnancy testing, occult blood, and cell counts.
White Blood Cell differentials can be performed on cerebrospinal, pleural and ascetic fluids.

Sample Submission
All specimens must be accompanied by a Stanford requisition and all samples must be labeled with the patient’s name, and at least one other unique identifier.
