Our department has been a consistent leader in clinical innovation and the application of discoveries to improve the diagnosis and treatment of human disease.

Stanford’s Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Laboratories, and Blood Center play a critical role in facilitating patient care. We annually perform over 12 million clinical laboratory tests and evaluate over 60,000 surgical pathology and cytology specimens. As an academic medical center, we offer a wide range of routine and esoteric testing and deep subspecialty expertise in our pathology practice. In addition to serving the patients of Stanford Healthcare, we offer our expertise to outside institutions around the globe through our Anatomic Pathology Consultation Program and our Clinical Lab Outreach program.
