Our Faculty
Stanford’s Immunology and Special Chemistry offers testing in the following main areas:
Allergy
We offer a full range of allergy testing including panels for airborne and food allergies, nut (and components), insect venom, bird, penicillin, chemicals, seafood, and fish allergies, pediatric food allergies. Testing is also available for allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis screening, tryptase, and inflammatory marker of interleukin-6.
Celiac Disease
Comprehensive IgA and IgG immunoassays, in combination with HLA typing.
Endocrinology
We utilize a range of immunoassays and LC-MS/MS methods for high sensitivity and high accuracy quantification of steroid hormones such as 17-OHP, estradiol, 11-deoxycortisol, salivary cortisol, IGF-1, and vitamin D testing in adult and pediatric samples. We offer STAT 17-OHP for confirmation of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH).
Infectious Disease Serology
Our infectious disease serology includes hepatitis, SARS-CoV-2, HIV screening, rubella, H. pylori, and reverse algorism syphilis testing.
Tumor Markers
Our section offers tumor marker testing of CEA, CA-125, CA19-9, CA15-3, ultra-sensitive PSA, AFP, and ultra-sensitive thyroglobulin (with auto-antibody), as well as serum protein immunofixation electrophoresis to identify m-spike protein, and serum free light chain assays.
Trace and Toxic Metals
We provide testing for trace and toxic metals including heavy metal screens, selenium, mercury, lead, arsenic, cadmium, copper, and zinc.
Therapeutic Drug Monitoring
We provide testing for therapeutic drug monitoring for a wide range of drugs including gabapentin, lamotrigine, levetiracetam, mycophenolic acid and MPAG, topiramate, and zonisamide.
Autoimmune Diseases
Our testing for autoimmune diseases includes an ANA screen and specific ANA antibodies, Anti-CCP, RF, anti-thyroglobulin and anti-TPO antibodies.
Serum, Urine and CSF Protein Electrophoresis
Our comprehensive clinical protein electrophoresis measures specific proteins to diagnose immunoglobulin disorders including multiple myeloma. We offer isoelectric focusing electrophoresis of CSF for oligoclonal banding for multiple sclerosis.
