About Molecular & Genomics Pathology
At the core of Precision Medicine is a precise diagnosis leading to targeted and individualized treatment. Molecular Pathology and Genomics supply these precise diagnoses, examining molecules within organs, tissues or bodily fluids to identifying changes and mutations in individual genes. These tests are widely used to diagnose and monitor disease, detect risk, and decide which therapies will work best for individual patients.

MOLECULAR PATHOLOGY SERVICES
Stanford’s Molecular Pathology and Clinical Genomics services offer a full range of molecular techniques including quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), multiplex PCR, DNA microarray, in situ hybridization, in situ RNA sequencing, DNA sequencing, antibody-based immunofluorescence tissue assays, molecular profiling of pathogens, and analysis of bacterial genes for antimicrobial resistance. Our testing supports patient care at Stanford and through our outreach program by diagnosing disease and inherited conditions, determining disease prognosis, supporting pharmacogenomics and providing risk assessment for genetic disorders.
