About Special Coagulation

The Stanford Coagulation and Hemostasis Laboratory is dedicated to comprehensive clinical and laboratory evaluation of disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis. We offer a comprehensive test menu and expert interpretations of coagulation profiles and consultations in the diagnosis of coagulation diseases and disorders.

The Stanford Coagulation and Hemostasis Laboratory offers comprehensive testing for disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis. In addition to a comprehensive test menu, we also offer expert interpretations of coagulation profiles and consultations in the diagnosis of coagulation diseases and disorders.

 

Coagulation Factor Deficiencies

Stanford offers a wide range of testing for diagnosis of coagulation factor deficiencies or inhibitors in the intrinsic or extrinsic pathways.

Von Willebrand Disease

We offer comprehensive testing for identifying Von Willebrand disease, a genetic disorder caused by a missing or defective clotting protein, known as von Willebrand factor. Our test offerings in this area include: Von Willebrand factor antigen, factor activity, factor VIII clotting activity and fVWFmultimer analysis.

Sample Submission

All specimens must be accompanied by a Stanford requisition and all samples must be labeled with the patient’s name, and at least one other unique identifier. Proper specimen collection is vital to ensuring an accurate test result. For detailed collection instructions by individual test, please explore our test directory.

Please note: Von Willebrand Disease testing requires immediate freezing of the samples. Please consult the test directory for proper handling of the specimens.

Many Special Coagulation tests require the patient to schedule an appointment for collection.
